The Humanist Movement is an international grassroots movement formed by people coming from different countries, cultures, beliefs and occupations, who get agree on placing the human being as the central value and concern while they reject each form of discrimination and violence. The Humanists want to humanize the earth by their concrete work, they aspire to the raise of a universal human nation and a new civilisation. They are inspired by the Non-violent movements struggle and methodology of action, promoted and developped by leaders such as Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Silo, the later thinker and founder of the Humanist Movement in 1969, in Argentina. Since 1969, an international social movement has been developped gathering more than 3 millions adherents in around 100 countries and a new current of thought has been spread, known as New Humanism or Universalist Humanism. The Humanist Movement is present in Pakistan since 2003. To be humanist today means: - To place the human being as central value and concern. - To affirm the equality of all people. - To recognise personal and cultural diversity. - To promote the development of knowledge which goes beyond the limitations imposed upon our thinking by prejudices accepted as absolute and immutable truths. - To affirm the freedom of ideas and beliefs. - To repudiate all forms of violence (not only physical violence, but also economic violence, racial violence, religious violence, moral and psychological violence).
